Informal inspiration at the Fellowship for British Hairdressing Afro Workshop

Award-winning Afro hairdresser Junior Green hosted a special Afro Workshop at his Kensington salon this week, which saw ten hairdressers learn the art of Afro hair.

The Fellowship for British Hairdressing event saw masters Desmond Murray, Lathanial Chambers from Lathanial Couture, Wayne Shorter-Campbell from Errol Douglas, Michele Thompson from Francesco Group and Junior be hands-on with stylists who wanted to learn more about Afro hair techniques and trends.

From learning how to fade a men's haircut to the art of braiding - which Junior made look effortlessly easy - hairdressers from across the UK worked in pairs on models and block heads, before a final presentation of their looks.

Using the right tools and equipment was also discussed when transforming tight curls into a beautiful smooth blow dry (you need a strong hairdryer for the job) to sectioning patterns and the best techniques to create tiny braids that lie flat to the head, the evening was fun, inspirational and educational.

"Afro hair is my passion and passing on this passion and knowledge to other hairdressers is one of the best parts of my job, " Junior said. "Working with the other four Afro specialists and seeing their interpretation of different techniques was incredible. It was a great pleasure to host this inspiring workshop at my salon."
